The U.S. census data and boundaries are presented courtesy of the National Historical GIS project at the University of Minnesota. Presidential voting data is used courtesy of the Digital Scholarship Lab at the University of Richmond and is based in part on the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research dataset 8611. The locations of the 1870 railroad system in the United States comes courtesy of William G. Thomas III and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
